Free Stuff in Vegas Today - 3/31/09

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has blown the dust off its collection of historic photographs and put together a touring exhibit entitled “From the Vault”. The photos will be on display at five area library branches starting today at the Whitney Library on E. Tropicana. Branch hours are 9 am to 9 pm, Mon-Thurs and 10 am-6 pm, Fri-Sun. The exhibit will be on display until May 19.

Bob Dancer shares his extensive video poker knowledge with another free lesson today at 1 pm in the South Point Showroom. Today’s topic is “What Video Poker Players Should Know About Slot Clubs.”  The class is free and anyone 21 years or older is welcome to attend.

McFadden’s at the Rio welcomes tonight’s SpyOnVegas open bar event. Get your complimentary Red Stripe and Admiral Nelson Rum cocktails from 6-9 pm.

The House of Blues brings in Acoustic Soul for tonight’s Alternative Tuesday concert in the Courtyard. Doors open at 9 pm for this all ages event. Admission is free.

Free Stuff in Vegas Today - 3/30/09

This week in Las Vegas will start out a bit slow but we’ll pick up speed after Hump Day when the NHRA and the Academy of Country Music Awards share the spotlight. There will be autograph sessions, free concerts and more, so stay tuned.

SpyOnVegas takes tonight’s open bar event upscale with a visit to the Double Helix Wine Bar and Boutique at the Palazzo. Complimentary wine will be served from 6-9 pm

Brad Cordle
takes his act to the House of Blues for tonight’s Blues Monday event in the Crossroads Courtyard. Doors open at 9 pm. Admission is free and all ages are welcome.

Fazoli’s has declared Stimulus Night at all four Las Vegase area locations. From 5-7pm you’re invided to enjoy a complimentary order of spaghetti and breadsticks. You’ll also get a chance to sample some of Fazoili’s new menu items. Offer good for dine-in orders only. Check here for locations .

Free Stuff in Vegas Today - 3/29/09

The Henderson Symphony Orchestra performs Concert Series II with conductor Taras Krysa and featuring the 2009 Young Artists Competition winners at the Henderson Pavilion. The music starts at 2 pm and admission is free.

Goodlife Sunday at the Palms is so big it takes two venues celebrate. They’re holding a calendar model search at the Playboy Club and you’ll get a first look at Miss March. To win a chance to appear in Playboy magazine you can register at the club or online at MissPlayboyClub.com . Over at Moon Nightclub they’ll welcome Michelle Coe & Ben Gee from London. The evening also features performances by Beej and Jeff Ermillio. Ladies drink free champagne until midnight.

The March to Mexico Bikini Contest ends at McFadden’s tonight with one lucky lady winning a trip for two south of the border. Audience reaction will determine the winner. Ladies drink for free from 10 pm to midnight.

Earth Hour in Las Vegas

When the lights go down in Las Vegas tonight in observance of Earth Hour we want to make sure that you’re prepared. Just because you’re raising social consciousness about global climate change doesn’t mean you can’t party at the same time.

We’ll get the party started at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign when county commissioners flip the switch. Shortly after, the lights will go dark for the 7th time in Las Vegas history .

Cocktail Crawl:

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino brings you the Ecotini, to be served exclusively at AGO, Pink Taco, Center Bar and the Poker Lounge. For $8 you’ll get an “Earth inspired” concoction made of Bacardi Light Rum, Midori and Pineapple juice.

The Las Vegas Hilton is serving the “Greentini” at all bars and lounges. We couldn’t find out makes it Green but we hope it’s not another one of those Shamrock Shake/green food-coloring deals.

Cancun Resort is hosting an “Eco-tini” mixer on the observation deck.

Chef Rick Moonen will dish out complimentary IS Vodka cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the Up Lounge at RM Seafood

Whole Food Market at Town Square has complimentary wine tasting complete with a special presentation by a guest from the Las Vegas Natural History Museum who will share information about the constellations.

Dine in the Dark:

AGO at the Hard Rock declares “AGO After Dark” with a three-course candlelight dinner for $42 per person.

Nine Fine Irishmen at New York-New York has added a Sustainable Earth Hour Prix Fixe Menu available from 6-10 pm. The three-course meal costs $29.95 plus tax per person.

Café by Wolfgang Puck at Springs Preserve will provide live music and refreshments during their viewing party.

Whole Foods Market at The District at Green Valley Ranch will hold a viewing party in their parking lot with tapas served from 8:30 pm-9:30 pm.

Party in the Dark:

The Fremont Street Experience has prepared a special countdown on Viva Vision. Get their early to get your free glow necklace and be part of the spectacle.

Acoustic band Alternative Energy will entertain the crowd on the Brooklyn Bridge in front of New York-New York. Thy will perform two sets (8:30 pm and 10:15 pm). Admission is free.

Krave Nightclub is throwing a Flashlight Underwear Party. Exchange your clothes for a flashlight at the door starting at 11 pm. DJ Morningstar provides the tunes. Free admission for locals and $20 for all others.

VooDoo Lounge atop the Rio is offering free admission for party goers who arrive before 9 pm. Chris Roxstar provides tunes in the lounge while Jeff G parties on the patio. Patio doors open at 5 pm and the music starts at 10 pm. $20 cover after 9 pm.

Wear your little black dress to McFadden’s and get free admission to the Blackout Party. Open bar from 10 pm-midnight costs $10 for ladies and $20 for gents.

Free Stuff in Vegas Today - 3/28/09

Blas Elias of Slaughter and the Sin City Sinners team up for a show at Ovation Lounge inside Green Valley Ranch. Admission is free and doors open at 10:30 pm.

The Chrome Showroom at Santa Fe Station continues their rock tribute series with Queen Nation. The show starts at 10 pm and admission is free.

Cactus Joe’s (12740 Blue Diamond Road) will transform into an arts festival for today’s Spring Fling. Local artists and craftsman will man booths sprinkled along the trails that meander through the cactus nursery. Entertainment will be provided local bands including FLUX (jam band), The Gazebo Guerillas (jam), rap artist Nicholai “Rhetoric” Hermosillo, The Moronix (rock), and Shufflefoot (blue-grass). Refreshements will be available for purchase and activities include a merry-go-round, drum circle, face painting and kids’ crafts. The fair will be from 11 am to 6 pm and admission is free.

McFadden’s at the Rio will hold a Blackout Party in honor of tonight’s Earth Hour observance. Little black dress wearers get in for free.
